England vs Australia (ENG vs AUS) 2nd ODI Highlights: England, batting first in the 2nd ODI vs Australia in Manchester, put up 231/9 in their 50 overs. Australia was all out for 207 in reply. England, winning by 24 runs, have leveled the series at 1-1.
England never got going in their innings till the 9th wicket stand. After Jonny Bairstow fell for a duck and Jason Roy (21) was run out by Joe Root (39), there was a patient partnership between Root and Eoin Morgan (42). They both fell in quick succession and a slide of wickets followed. Adam Zampa (3/36) and Mitchell Starc (2/38) were the wreckers-in-chief for Australia, with ample help from Josh Hazlewood’s (1/27) economical spell. They were taken beyond 200 courtesy a 76-run 9th wicket partnership between Tom Curran (37) and Adil Rashid (35*).
Australia was pegged back by two Jofra Archer (3/34) strikes but was back on course on the back of a 107-run partnership between Aaron Finch (73) and Marnus Labuschagne (48). However, just as Australia was looking to run away with it, the reintroduction of Archer and Chris Woakes (3/32) brought about a collapse from 143/2. Australia kept losing wickets thereon to be all out for 207.

Eng vs Aus 2nd ODI Match Prediction & Analysis
Australia started the ODI series very well and registered a 19-run win over the World Champions, England. There were a few nervy moments for Australia but they managed to keep their nerve. England too showed a lot of heart from some difficult situations and the next few matches promise to be close as well.
Can Australia break the 13-series winning streak that England has in the ODI format? England is at full-strength for this ODI series and is not going to want to lose to its traditional rivals. Expect them to come out all guns blazing as well.
England vs Australia 2nd ODI 2020 is going to be played at the Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, on the 13th of September 2020.
The lack of wickets in the middle overs is something that has hurt England ever since the ODI world cup. The team has chosen to move away from Liam Plunkett, who was so good in that role and does not have a great replacement ready.
The first match is a perfect example of how this is making life difficult for England. Australia was 123 for 5 in 23.4 overs but England could not get another breakthrough till the 44th over by which time the score had improved to 249.
There was not much resistance from Australia after that wicket fell and just showed what an opportunity England let go. The form of its opening bowlers, especially the pace of Jofra Archer, was impressive and is going to test Australia again.
Adil Rashid is a real force in the middle-overs as well. Moeen Ali had a rough game and has been struggling with his bowling for quite some time now. He is not currently good enough to be playing as a fifth bowler especially when England has no other part-timers to turn to.
England’s batting is deep and very powerful. Bairstow and Billings mounted an excellent counter-attack in the previous match against Australia. We can expect some more contributions from Roy, Buttler, and Morgan in this match which should help England quite a lot.
England Playing 11
Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, JE Root, Eoin Morgan, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Jos Buttler, Sam Billings, CR Woakes, AU Rashid, Jofra Archer.
A brilliant spell of bowling from Josh Hazelwood set the scene for Australia’s victory in our opinion. Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell batted well to get Australia to 294 but that is a very chase-able total in England.
Australia seems to be struggling to be able to keep up with England at the moment. They are unlikely to have Steve Smith available to them for this match or even the final one and so their batting is compromised.
David Warner is struggling for form, Aaron Finch looks close to getting out at all times, and Alex Carey looks out of place. Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Marsh, and Glenn Maxwell are leading the charge for Australia at the moment.
The Australia batting is strong but it is nowhere near as dangerous as England’s. The current form
of the Aussie players looks pretty poor as well.
Where Australia matches England (and is even slightly better) is the bowling. Josh Hazelwood is bowling beautifully while Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Adam Zampa are asking tough questions as well. Zampa is constantly under attack from the England players but he comes coming back at them.
Add Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Mitchell Marsh to the mix and Australia has seven good bowling options at its disposal. That is a far more flexible bowling attack than England’s and is going to keep them in the contest at all times.
Australia Playing 11
David Warner, Aaron Finch, Marcus Stoinis, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey, Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, JR Hazlewood.
2nd ODI Eng vs Aus Toss Prediction
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first since defending totals is pretty difficult at the Old Trafford ground.
Pitch and Conditions
We can see the amount of cricket played at Old Trafford starting to take its toll on the pitch. There was some help for the spinners in the previous match which is only going to continue. There are a lot of runs to be had but the batsmen are going to have to work a bit harder than on previous conditions.
The large boundaries make six-hitting a bit challenging and the fast-bowlers seem to enjoy a bit of zipping under lights.
A score of around 300 is the least that teams batting first are going to be aiming for.

Eng vs Aus 2nd ODI Betting Tips
England has won 12 out of the last 16 matches it has played against Australia. It also loves playing at Old Trafford with a success rate of around 66.66%, the highest of any venue where England has played more than 10 matches. If we take the strength of the batting that England has then it looks to be a far better side than Australia.
The visitors hit back with an excellent bowling lineup of their own and some very dangerous batters. Still, we think England should have enough in the tank to be able to win this match and keep the ODI series alive.
Bet on England to win.
Our Favorite Bets
Winner Match Sixes - England ($1.95) (Livebid)
Australia is one of the worst cricket nations when it comes to hitting sixes in ODI cricket while England is one of the best. There can be individual variations on the night but overall England has consistently proven itself to be a better six-hitting team. Bet on it and take advantage.
A Hundred Score in the Match - Yes ($1.80) (Livebid)
We nearly had three hundred in the previous match even when both teams suffered a batting collapse. It is clear that there are some very good bowlers on either side but the bating conditions at Trent Bridge are awesome. We could easily have a century and a healthy pay-out for you in this next match!
Eoin Morgan Total Runs - Over 30.5 ($1.83) (Livebid)
Eoin Morgan is in the form of his life and loves playing against Australia. He matches up nicely against their spinner as well as the left-arm fast-bowler coming into his arc. he looked in terrific touch before being dismissed in the previous match as well. We think this is a very good bet option for everyone.
